He had a relatively normal childhood as a young wizard. He and Esme would watch streamed Quidditch tournaments and bicker over who was going to be the better Quidditch player when they were older. They used to race around the house with broomsticks pretending they were in their own game. His parents maintained high expectations of him and ensured he aspired to the best wizard he possibly could. His mother taught him basic incantations and had been planning his life journey to Hogwarts since he was born. He was destined to become a Ravenclaw, like the rest of his family.
However a couple months before they began shopping for items they needed for School, his father was jailed in Azkaban for the murder of a muggle in plain sight. His mother lost her job due to the bad reputation this gave their family, and something changed within Elliot. He became colder, and less focused on his studies. He spent less time reading and more time planning to get his father out of Azkaban. His mother did not approve of his lack of interest in his education and he slowly began to resent her for it, their relationship continued to deteriorate after she refused to appeal for the release of her husband, and began filing a divorce to rid of the ‘murderer’ from the family. Up until he left to go to Hogwarts School, he began spending less and less time around his mother and sister, and more time on his own, he became a loner.
During the first year of Hogwarts, he was placed in Slytherin house, which displeased his mother, and was unable to contact his father. He often was involved in fights and failed most of his classes in the first year, he was not interested in studying and had a rather bad reputation with the professors.
During the summer, he did not return home to his mother, he stayed at Hogwarts. He wrote to his sister, and that was all the contact made between him and his family that summer. His sister pleaded for him to change. She did not like the tension in the family, and it was hard with their mother without a job for her to cope on her own.
He had a lot of time to reflect during his time on his own that summer. He tried to alter his mindset, try and make some friends and give a little bit more interest in his studies- for his sisters sake. He couldn’t leave her on her own. He needed to protect her. It was also around this time that he delved into pensive thought regarding his father. He began devoting time to plan how he was to get his father out of prison, he longed for his company, or to simply hear his voice.
